Healthier Moms and Babies provides several comprehensive programs which are designed to educate, empower, and inspire participants to make positive changes to impact the outcome of the pregnancies, their lives and the lives of their families.


Job Purpose

The Development and Volunteer Manager reports directly to and collaborates closely with the CEO, which is vital in advancing HMB's development and volunteer initiatives. This position oversees all fundraising activities and creates strategies to boost revenue through individual donations, sponsorships, fundraising events, and volunteer engagement. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and a deep passion for positively impacting the community.

The starting salary for this position is $65,000 annually.

  • Fundraising and Cultivation Activities:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes individual gifts, corporate giving, planned giving, and special events.

    • Identify corporate partners and plan and execute special events to engage donors and raise funds.

    • Identify and assist the CEO with the cultivation of individual giving and major gifts.

    • Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Directors to set fundraising goals and strategies that align with the organization's mission and values.

    • Build relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and community organizations to secure gifts and sponsorships.

    • Manage and oversee all fundraising events, ensuring effective planning and execution.

    • Provide regular fundraising reports to the CEO and the Board of Directors, recommending necessary adjustments to the fundraising plan.

    • Coordinate with the marketing contractor to create fundraising materials, social media content, and e-newsletters that communicate our mission and values.

    • Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed, including tracking donor engagement and retention rates and analyzing revenue streams.

    • Collaborate with the CEO on updating and monitoring the annual development calendar to ensure year-round engagement and stewardship of individual donors.

    • Ensure appropriate follow-up with donors and supporters.

    • Fundraising and Cultivation Activities:

    Volunteer Coordination :

    • Recruit, train, and supervise new volunteers.

    • Collect volunteer information and availability and maintain a volunteer database.

    • Partner with outside agencies, colleges, university volunteer offices, and community groups to develop sources of qualified volunteers.

    • Maintain schedules and records of volunteers’ work.

    • Develop and maintain volunteer codes of conduct and operation procedures to uphold HMB values

    General Responsibilities:

    • Share accurate information about Healthier Moms and Babies.

    • Take initiative and responsibility for decisions as an individual and as a staff member of HMB.

    • Encourage a positive work environment and experience for co-workers and clients.

    • Adhere to all organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and practices; maintain proper attendance and punctuality.

    • Safely, beneficially, and cost-effectively utilize materials, equipment, and time; promptly organize workload to complete responsibilities.

    • Participate in in-service training and attend conferences as needed.

    • Adhere to ethical business practices, striving to perform in a manner that conforms to the highest standards of ethical behavior, integrity, and honesty; exhibit commitment and promote HMB’s mission, values, and vision.

    • Work evenings and weekends as required.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    • BA/BS Degree

    • Minimum bachelor’s degree in marketing, Journalism, Languages, Communications, Social Justice, or other related fields.

    • Must have a current valid Driver’s License.

    • Minimum of three years experience in fundraising, special events, and donor communication.

    • Proven stakeholder management skills, demonstrating ability to establish rapport with all levels of staff, board of directors, funders, donors, and volunteers.

    • Ability to create comprehensive and meaningful reports to provide executive insight into development activities and progress toward goals.

    • Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office, managing donor databases, and creating presentations.

    • Demonstrates integrity in all situations and interactions; can develop trusting, collaborative, professional relationships with coworkers, clients, and community collaborators.

    • Proven stakeholder management skills, demonstrating ability to establish rapport with all levels of staff, board of directors, funders, donors, and volunteers.

    • Ability to create comprehensive and meaningful reports to provide executive insight into development activities and progress toward goals.

    • Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office, managing donor databases, and creating presentations.

    • Relates culturally sensitive to low-income clients and those from diverse backgrounds.

    • Able to communicate concisely and in a discreet, professional manner.

    • Demonstrates initiative, self-motivation, and pro-active behavior.

    • Must have organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage projects concurrently.

    • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
